A lyrical lament on the planet
Mama is an interactive music video for a song off Johnny Selman’s Rockaway EP. A lyrical observation of the wild abuses our planet and people have suffered, the video allows users to “heal” the typographic manifestations of fire, drought, floods, disease, and war on the lyrical refrain “it ain’t okay mama.” Check out the mama site, or find Mama and the rest of the Rockaway EP on Spotify and Apple Music.

Fires burning
Each of the five visualizations was created using the latest web technologies, such as es6, React, and SVG, to highlight different issues we are facing currently. It’s worth noting that no matter how much time an individual spends on any of the site’s interactions, they cannot be fully resolved by a singular effort. This detail highlights how necessary it is that humans come together to heal each other and our world before it’s too late. As a starting point, the “About” page highlights a call to action to donate to the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC), a non-governmental environmental advocacy organization on the front lines in the fight for our planet.
