Ideally in creative practice, if you create things you love, opportunities will find you. For us, that happens to be a not-so-subtle soccer obsession. Charity Ball, a non-profit organization that has provided new quality soccer balls to children in poverty-stricken communities worldwide since 2009, is doing some of the finest charitable work in the space. We had the good fortune to connect, and just within the past few years together, we’ve created a globe-spanning initiative, a fluid brand refresh, and oh so much swag.
Ethan King from Charity Ball reached out to us after coming across our World Cup illustration project. His foundation had just returned from hosting a tournament in Kenya and, inspired by the community’s support for the women’s matches, wanted to collaborate on promoting equity in women and girls’ soccer.
Our work with Ethan and his family coincided at a pivotal point in the charity’s journey. Ethan founded it as an ambitious child, but now as an adult himself, their mission and principles needed to reflect a maturing vision while maintaining the youthful energy that fuels Charity Ball.
Refocusing and refreshing their mission and identity sparked a renewed excitement for Charity Ball’s future as many initiatives paused during the pandemic. The team is back out there providing equipment to communities in need, building a new brand and league partnerships, and inspiring their passionate global community to improve the world they live in through sport.
